Sarasota County Seeks Volunteers for 1-day Drill |
|||
Sarasota County Health and Human Services is requesting temporary
volunteers to help out on a post-disaster drill. The drill will have a
3-hour window and volunteers need to commit to serving only 30 minutes
to an hour during this timeframe. It will make the drill more realistic
with “staggered arrivals” anytime during the window. The drill will test our ability to run a Volunteer Reception Center. A Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) is an operation in which spontaneous, unaffiliated disaster volunteers are registered and referred to local agencies to assist with relief efforts. The volunteers we need for this drill will be playing the role of a ‘spontaneous volunteer’ who showed up to volunteer after a hurricane has hit Sarasota County. When they arrive at the Volunteer Reception Center they will: 1. Complete a registration form 2. Accept a referral to an organization needing their services (referral includes a description of required skills and duties) 3. Receive a form of identification approved by local officials 4. Participate in a safety briefing 5. Be deployed to the organization they will volunteer for (there will be no real deployment) Please help us out in recruiting volunteers for this drill. Participants can register at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VRC-Drill Drill information: September 23 from 9:00 – 12:00 (volunteers can arrive anytime within this time window).
